Learning Together Workshops – SPRING 2018

It IS Rocket Science!

Are you interested in becoming a Rocket Scientist? Would you like to work for NASA, United Launch Alliance (ULA), Scaled Composites, Sierra Nevada, or SpaceX? Do you just love building really, really fast things?  This workshop is for you!
During this workshop, you will learn how to build and launch your own rocket.  Gain knowledge about model rocketry and get connected with other rocketeers of all ages and levels of experience.
Apogee Avion Rocket kit provided for each registrant. (Rocket launch weather permitting)

3D Revolution!

Designing and producing/printing 3-dimensional objects is something that soon every student will experience in school.  Come and enjoy learning together about 3D design software and printing in this brief introduction to this growing technology.  Designs can be printed following the workshop on almost any 3D printer.

Beginner Coding

Have you been wondering what computer science and coding are all about? Join us to learn basic computer science vocabulary, then jump right into simple coding. You will leave the class with the skills needed to create your own programs including games, animations, greeting cards, and more! Participants will also learn how to access free resources to continue coding at home. This beginner class is perfect for students who have had little to no experience with computer programming.

Morning Like Mozart Workshop

Spend the morning creating music, exploring instrument sounds, discovering new ways of imaging music. In this class, we’ll be using a web-based music composition program, be able to hear and share our creations that may include a variety of instruments, and print out our scores at the end of the morning. Let your creative thoughts flow through music. No experience necessary as we venture into the world of a composer.

Engineering Brightness is a group of students and teachers committed to making the world brighter. Through global collaboration with New Brunswick, The Dominican Republic, and Uganda, Engineering Brightness participants are engineering 3D printed, sustainable lanterns and distributing them to people without reliable electricity worldwide!
